She is the destroyer of evil and removes everything which is negative in the world.

  5. Before 1970, the humongous 22 feet idol of Naihati’s Boro Maa Kali used to be carried on the shoulders of the strongest men in town, to the river for immersion.

Naba Yubak Sangha/ Fatakeshto Kali Puja

Krishna Chandra Dutta aka Fatakeshto started this famous Kali puja in Kolkata during the 1950’s. The design and the structure of the idol has been kept the same year after year.

This famous Kali puja has been visited by almost all famous celebrities’ in the country. Starting from Amitabh Bacchan to Asha Bhosle, everyone appeared in this Puja at least once in their lifetime.

The structure of the pandal has also been kept exactly the same as it used to be in earlier times and the decorations and lightings still now come from Chandannagore area.

Amherst Street Sadharan Kali Puja Committee / Somen Mitra Kali Puja

Just beside the famous Fatakeshto puja pandal you would get another famous Kali Puja pandal in the Amherst street region popularly known as Somen Mitra (famous political leader of Bengal, India) Kali Puja pandal.

The pandal is constructed right on the main road near Amherst street and the idol is generally beautifully decorated with gold and silver ornaments every time around.

48 Pally Jubasree Kali Puja

If you walk towards Bowbajar from Amherst street, after 100, 200 meters you would get the famous 48 Pally Jubasree Kali Puja. Their main attraction is their decoration and lighting.

Ekata Sangha Kali Puja

Just near to the 48 Pally Jubasree Kali Puja you would find the Ekata Sangha Kali Puja pandal. Also a decent puja in the list.

Sukea Street Kali Puja

If you near APC Road, if you enter into Sukea Street, in Mahendra Srimani Road, you can get this kali puja pandal. If you are in Amherst street, take the lane opposite to Ghosh Sweets to witness this grand puja.

Janbajar Sammilita Kali Puja

This puja pandal has gained quite popularity in recent years. This year the pandal has been inaugurated by the Chief Minister of West Bengal. It was established in the year 1969.

This puja is located in the SN Banerjee Road and walking distance from Wellington crossing.

Youth Friends Club Kali Puja

Located near Shakespeare Sarani. This pandal has to be included in the top list of pandals to be visited this year.

Lake View Kali Puja – Amra Sobai Club

This Puja near Southern Avenue gained its popularity with the famous 9 kali idols couple of years back. If you are in South Kolkata, you can add this to your list located just close to Lake Kali Bari.

Baghajatin Mainak Club

Witness the beautiful Kali idol of Baghajatin Mainak club with their theme this year , ” Kalikhetro”
