A day trip to Cafe Ekante

Are you sick and tired of sitting back at home ? Do you long for a quality time with your partner on a quaint place sipping the best coffee or having your best food amidst a peaceful environment? If yes, then Cafe Ekante should be the place for you.

The word Ekante resembles peace, tranquility, calmness & a private space. So you can surely expect to spend a lot of quality time with your soulmate in this beautiful location.

How to Reach :

Cafe Ekante is located in close proximity to the famous Eco Park in Kolkata. It’s a one hour drive from the center of Kolkata and the actual road journey to the place makes it more special. There are 3 ways you can reach Cafe Ekante.

  • Via Chinar Park & City Centre 2
  • Via Chingrighata and Nicco Park. Go straight and take the Rajarhat connector. Cross the Biswa Bangla Gate and head towards Eco Park
  • Via VIP road, take the road from Kestopur which connects Rajarhat and head towards left to the Biswa Bangla Gate towards Eco Park.

Note : There is another Cafe Ekante in Biswa Bangla Gate, which is different from the one mentioned here.

When you enter the Eco park Gate, drive straight towards the Cafe’s location. There are directions mentioned at every corner to make sure that it’s convenient for everyone to locate the place easily. As you drive through, the view of the Lake and the beautifully designed gardens on both side of the road will surely make you feel rejuvenated.

There is a separate parking slot for the visitors. You can park your car there and you have to move towards the hotel which the security guard will guide you. As you move on, you will be absolutely mesmerized with the view of the lake on both sides while you stand on a wooden bridge in between which you have to cross in the beginning. What to eat ?

The restaurant area is beautifully designed and well planned in terms of providing the visitors taste the best food with a beautiful view of the lake.

They have a section for Chinese cuisine which is situated on a houseboat and they have another section which serves North Indian and Bengali Cuisine beside the lake

We chose the Chinese section as we really liked the view from the Boat.

Food & Cost

The food we ordered in Cafe Ekante were :

  • 1 Mixed Noodles
  • 2 Chicken Fried Rice
  • 2 Chili chicken
  • 1 Kung Pao Chicken
  • 3 Caramel Custard

The quantity was quite sufficient for two people, so always order one dish first and then if you need, order another one. The pocket pinch was Rs 2800 for us. So you can say, as per the cost is concerned it’s not too expensive and not to cheap as well.

The taste of the food were good , however we felt that the caramel custard was too sweet for our taste buds.

The next time we plan to try their North Indian and Bengali Cuisine. Do comment below if you already tried both the cuisines.

Overall

We felt that more than the food the overall ambience was so charming and peaceful that you can surely pay a visit to the place just to refresh your mind. Don’t expect extravagant luxury services as Cafe Ekante was created in the first place to give the hosts a peaceful time of their own. If you are planning to spend a weekend , do definitely book their cottages.

Tip : The lake beside Cafe Ekante was very soothing to the eyes. Time and again you will see different varieties of fishes moving around and kingfishers giving a dip into the water to catch them. However we also noticed that their were plastics, garbage’s thrown into the water by the tourists. Its a request to everyone Please do not throw litters into the water, they have their dustbins placed everywhere , please use that. Stay Safe. Stay Healthy.
